Anti-Modern Slavery Statement

This statement constitutes Fusion Lifestyle's slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year ended 31 December 2022 and is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015.

Our position

Modern slavery is a crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. It takes various forms such as slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labour and human trafficking, all of which exploit someone else for the purpose of personal or commercial gain. Fusion Lifestyle has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and is committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all its business dealings and relationships to ensure that modern slavery is not taking place in our business or supply chains.

Our business

Fusion Lifestyle is a registered Charity with over 20 years of experience in the development and operation of diverse sports & leisure facilities around the UK. We work independently and in partnership with public and sporting bodies to provide recreational sport, health and fitness activities to the local community. We operate from 62 sites and service millions of customer visits each year.

Our supply chain

We work with a variety of suppliers providing a wide range of goods and services. These include but are not limited to:

  • Maintenance
  • Contract cleaning
  • Concessions and catering
  • Contract fitness delivery
  • Uniform and PPE
  • Cleaning and office supplies
  • Postal and courier services

They are all pre-qualified and assessed for risk before they are permitted to trade with us. Where our supplies are from UK-based companies whose annual turnover is in excess of £36M, they are therefore obliged to comply with specific requirements of the Modern Slavery Act. All supply arrangements are subject to review in which the Modern Slavery Act is a criterion.

Our employees

We have circa 2,200 staff - they are the most significant resource in our business. Policies and processes have been developed in the following areas to ensure we are operating ethically and in accordance with UK law:

Recruitment - including 'right to work' document checks, contracts of employment,  checks to ensure everyone employed is 16 and above, and DBS screening where appropriate;

Market-related pay and annual review of compliance with minimum wage and living wage requirements;

Enhanced benefits package - providing additional health and welfare options to support staff and their families lifestyle choices;

Equality and diversity - promoted throughout the organisation to create an inclusive working environment which provides equality of opportunity and freedom from discrimination and harassment;

Whistleblowing - our staff know how they can raise concerns confidentially including any suspicions they may have regarding modern slavery either in our own workforce or in our supply chain.

Staff who are involved in buying or procurement and recruitment and deployment of workers receive training on modern slavery and ethical employment practice.

Our volunteers

Appropriate steps are taken to ensure that a volunteer's rights are protected including use of our volunteer agreement. All volunteers receive training related to their responsibilities and are also made aware of with whom they can speak to discuss their responsibilities and any issues that may arise.

Volunteers are not to be used in lieu of paid workers.
